Geneva IL was faced with a choice to approve a 5 story apartment complex and demolish an old stone millrace building. But without knowing what else could go there the community felt stuck. We were hired to propose an alternative plan for the site which keeps the mill race building, and planning for a smaller development. The site sits on along the Fox River and the bike path at the heart of Geneva, making the scale of the development incredibly important. The 5 story design was rejected and this design was wildly favored.
